MIAMI BEACH, February 12, 2009 – The MAKO 18 LTS is honored for innovative achievement by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and Boating Writers International (BWI) at the 68th Annual Miami International Boat Show.
The Innovation Awards, organized by NMMA and judged by BWI, recognize products that best meet the following criteria: Innovative distinction from other products currently being manufactured; benefit to the marine industry and/or consumer; practicality; cost-effectiveness; and availability to the consumer within 60 days of award receipt.
Judges were impressed with the 41 products entered in eight categories and recognized the MAKO 18 Light Tackle Skiff as a 2009 Miami Innovation Award winner in the Runabouts & Fishing Craft to 24’category.
The LTS Rapid Planing System’s unique rear vent enables low speed, shallow water planing with no bow rise. Judge Rudow says, “This boat gets out of the hole quickly in skinny water and does so at an affordable price.”
National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) is the leading association representing the recreational boating industry. NMMA member companies produce more than 80 percent of the boats, engines, trailers, accessories and gear used by boaters in the United States. The association is dedicated to industry growth through programs in public policy, market research and data, product quality assurance and marketing communications.
