TRAILER BOATS ® Excellence in Design: MAKO 264 Express

MAKO 264 ExpressAs featured in the January issue of TRAILER BOATS magazine “Excellence in Design” article found on page 62.

Never before have cabins on trailerable boats been so luxurious. Perhaps this is the boating industry’s answer to vanishing waterfront accessibility. With the types of amenities found in today’s trailer boats, the need for larger cruisers or sportfishers, which require slips, is not so great. Add to that the price of a mooring or waterfront real estate, and it does not take a genius to see that your floating (yet trailerable) vacation home can help save you big bucks as you enjoy not just one, but multiple destinations.

MAKO 264 EXPRESS
New from Mako, this 26-foot walkaround has fishing written all over it. But that’s only the half of it. When you tire of chasing fins, you can retire into a cradle of comfort inside the 264. A study in understated luxury, the cabin features one of the freshest layouts we’ve seen in years, and we applaud Mako for this new approach.
The design’s chief attribute is an island berth and quarter berth that can sleep three adults. The island berth in particular is a big-boat idea that makes it much easier to climb in and out of bed than with your standard V-berth.
Other notable amenities include a space-saving, offset dinette and a teak-and-holly sole. Mako’s new 26-footer is also available in a Pilothouse Package that really extends cabin living space. This boat is proof that just because you’re out on a fishing trip, there’s no need to rough it.
